It was set up by Venerable Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa of Myanmar (Panditarama Shwe-taung-gon Sasana-yeiktha) and was inaugurated on July 14, 2002. The meditation method is Intensive Vipassana in the tradition of the Venerable Mahasi Sayadaw of Myanmar, which consists of sitting meditation and formal walking meditation throughout the day. Saraniya Dhamma Meditation Centre offers an ongoing retreat year-round. Meditators may schedule their individual retreat from a few days up to several months starting at any time of the year. There are also formal scheduled retreats (please see our events calendar for more information). The resident teachers, Venerable Nanujjotabhivamsa and Venerable Pannasami, have trained with the Venerable Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa of Myanmar.
